On the Gold Coast there are two Magistrates Courts that deal with criminal and traffic offences in the Gold Coast region, they include the Southport magistrates Court located around the the centre-northern area of the Gold Coast and then there is the Coolangatta Magistrates Court which deals with the Southern end of the Gold Coast.

Southport Magistrates Court

The biggest and most significant Courthouse on the Gold Coast is located at Southport. The Southport Magistrates Court is a very large Courthouse in size and is said to be the second busiest within the state of Queensland. The Coolangatta Magistrates Court is a much smaller courthouse compare to that of the Southport Magistrates Court. The courthouse at Coolangatta usually has 2 to 3 courtrooms in operation at any one time.

The Coolangatta Magistrates Court will usually deal with a smaller number of criminal matters which are alleged to have been committed around the southern end of the Gold Coast.
